ArctiCreeL - The Original, since 1940
The original ArctiCreel has been keeping catches fresh since 1940. Patented in 1947 (U.S. Patent No. 2,555,128), it was carried by Orvis and L.L. Bean for decades and remains the most trusted Belgian linen fishing creel in the world. We still make it the same way today, in Denver, Colorado.
It works on a principle as old as canvas itself: evaporation. Wet the Belgian linen, and as water evaporates from the exterior, the interior stays cool — no ice needed, no insulated pack required. Your catch stays fresh, your load stays light, and you stay focused on fishing.
Why the ArctiCreel
- Evaporative cooling keeps catch fresh without ice
- Lighter than cooler-based alternatives
- Belgian linen construction — naturally antimicrobial, durable, packable
- Heavy-duty metal snap closure
- Webbing handle and optional shoulder strap
- Cut and sewn by hand in Denver, Colorado

The original evaporative fishing creel — since 1940.
Patented 1947 (U.S. Patent No. 2,555,128). Carried by Orvis and L.L. Bean for decades. Belgian linen. Still made exactly the same way in Denver, Colorado.
How evaporative cooling works
Wet the linen
Dampen the Belgian linen exterior of the creel before use. River water works perfectly.
Evaporation cools
As water evaporates from the linen, it draws heat from the interior — the same principle as sweating.
Catch stays fresh
No ice. No insulated pack. No added weight. Just physics — and Belgian linen that has been doing this job since 1940.
The ArctiCreel was carried by Orvis and L.L. Bean for decades — two of the most discerning outdoor retailers in America. That history is not incidental. It is proof of concept across millions of fishing days.
